Nominations for all non-Student Choice awards are open from March 13th-27th.

The ASCARS is the annual awards show presented by the Mount Allison Students’ Union that celebrates the many achievements of students, student life, and the community. The ASCARS is a classy event that marks the end of each year. This is one Mount Allison tradition not to be missed. 

The 2017 ASCARS Awards Show and Last Class Bash is April 7th. Tickets will be sold by your residence executive or available in the MASU office from April 4th to April 7th.

Student Choice Awards

These awards are nominated and voted on by Mount Allison students.

Brutal of the Year Given to an individual(s) who have taken part in an act or event deemed worthy of being Brutal of the Year! “Wow” or “Gasp” factor, how far and quickly the story spread across campus, the significance and planning (if applicable) of the event, and the reaction it received, will be considered. It is something no one would want put down on paper, but that will be remembered for years to come!
Off-Campus Party of the Year Given to a well attended, planned and executed party, held in an off-campus house, that attracted a large number of people and created an enjoyable party atmosphere. Creativity, theme, publicity, decorations, etc. are considered.
Theatre Production of the Year Given to a production for outstanding acting and production (i.e. set design, technical support, etc.) that was well attended and received by the student body. Originality, innovation and level of student involvement are considered.

ASCARS General Awards

These awards are nominated by students and voted on by the Academy.

Club/Society of the Year Given to a club or society (recognized by the Students’ Administrative Council) that has made a positive impact on student life at Mount Allison, run successful event(s), targeted a wide demographic and is inclusive of all students, showed originality and innovation, and promotes the overall values of Mount Allison.
Frosh/Mountie(s) of the Year Given to an individual who has actively and positively contributed to the university community in many ways, both up front and behind the scenes. This student is respected and acts as a positive role model for other students.
Residence Party of the Year Given to a well attended, planned, and executed residence party that contributed to the house/campus spirit and created an enjoyable party atmosphere. Creativity, theme, publicity, decorations, etc. are also considered.
Don(s) of the Year Given to a Don(s) who is involved in house events, supportive, approachable, well known in residence, contributes to house spirit and helps create a positive atmosphere. They must also be visible around campus, involved in the Mount Allison community as a whole and supportive of individual efforts of students in their residence.
Intramural Team of the Year Given to an intramural team of any sport who demonstrated success in their game, spirit/fun on the field/court, sportsmanship and commitment/participation from the team members.
Student Media Contribution of the Year Awarded to a student who has had an impact on student life through their given choice of media, ie. journalism, radio, art or social media.
Hall of Fame Given to a person (staff, student, or faculty) who has made an exceptional and outstanding contribution and commitment to student life and the Mount Allison community over a number of years. It will be given to someone who has donated their time, money and creative energies to students and student activities.
Off-Campus House of the Year Given to an off-campus student house that has strong house unity, pride, spirit, and whose members show strong commitment to and involvement in both the on- and off-campus communities. House appearance, events, hosted etc. will also be considered.
Residence of the Year  Given to a residence that has contributed to campus life at Mount Allison through participating in both house and university events. Strength and level of house pride, unity, enthusiasm and presence on campus will be considered, as well as innovation, pride in house appearance, hosting of events (both in-house and open to public) etc.
Club Team of the Year Given to the club team that has excelled in sportsmanship, team bonding, competitive success, dedication (practice and commitment), Mountie pride/spirit, involvement and positive contribution to Mount Allison and community.

*Club teams include: Cross Country, Women’s Field Hockey, Men’s Lacrosse, Men’s Rugby, Women’s Rugby, Ultimate Frisbee, and Varsity Dance.

Varsity Team of the Year Given to the varsity team that has excelled in sportsmanship, team bonding, competitive success, dedication (practice and commitment), Mountie pride/spirit, involvement and positive contribution to Mount Allison and community.

*Varsity teams include: Badminton, Men’s Basketball, Women’s Basketball, Football, Women’s Hockey, Men’s Soccer, Women’s Soccer, Swimming, Curling, and Women’s Volleyball.

Band/Solo Artist of the Year Given to a band or solo artist who has had an impact on student life through their music and performances.
