MASU Entertainment is responsible for putting on the fun events and activities that students know and love! A couple of major events include Last Class Bash: Sackvegas and the ASCARS Award Show! masuentertainment@mta.ca
The ENTERTAInment Committee
The entertainment committee is chaired by the Entertainment Director, with help from the assistant entertainment director. In this committee, there is lots of brainstorming that takes place. We often discuss the themes for big events, come up with fresh new event ideas, think of ways to involve more students, and a variety of other tasks. Often times the entertainment committee also helps set up and decorate for the events and is strongly encouraged to attend all events that interest them. Having a large and diverse committee helps to ensure that the interests of many students are taken into account when organizing events and other forms of entertainment.
Ways to get involved
You can join the entertainment committee by applying at the beginning of the year through the MASU or by contacting the entertainment director, but the best way to get involved is by attending the variety of events that are planned annually including:

And a variety of other events throughout the year!

Student Choice Awards
Brutal of the Year
“Given to an individual(s) who have taken part in an act or event deemed worthy of being Brutal of the Year! “Wow” or “Gasp” factor, how far and quickly the story spread across campus, the significance and planning (if applicable) of the event, and the reaction it received, will be considered. It is something no one would want put down on paper, but that will be remembered for years to come!”
Event of the Year
“Given to a well attended, planned, and executed event, Creativity, theme, publicity, decorations, uniqueness, etc. are also considered.”
Student Media Contribution of the Year
“Awarded to a student who has had an impact on student life through their given choice of media, ie. journalism, radio, art or social media.”
General Awards
Club Team of the Year
Given to the club team that has excelled in sportsmanship, team bonding, competitive success, dedication (practice and commitment), Mountie pride/spirit, involvement and positive contribution to Mount Allison and community.
*Club teams include: Cross Country, Women’s Field Hockey, Men’s Lacrosse, Men’s Rugby, Women’s Rugby, Ultimate Frisbee, and Varsity Dance.
Club/Society of the Year
Given to a club or society (recognized by the Students’ Administrative Council) that has made a positive impact on student life at Mount Allison, run successful event(s), targeted a wide demographic and is inclusive of all students, showed originality and innovation, and promotes the overall values of Mount Allison.
DJ/Band/Solo Artist of the Year
Given to a band or solo artist who has had an impact on student life through their music and performances.
Don(s) of the Year
Given to a Don(s) who is involved in house events, supportive, approachable, well known in residence, contributes to house spirit and helps create a positive atmosphere. They must also be visible around campus, involved in the Mount Allison community as a whole and supportive of individual efforts of students in their residence.
First Year of the Year
Given to a 1st year individual who has actively and positively contributed to the university community in many ways, both up front and behind the scenes. This student is respected and acts as a positive role model for other students.
Hall of Fame
Given to a person (staff, student, or faculty) who has made an exceptional and outstanding contribution and commitment to student life and the Mount Allison community over a number of years. It will be given to someone who has donated their time, money and creative energies to students and student activities.
Intramural Team of the Year
Given to an intramural team of any sport who demonstrated success in their game, spirit/fun on the field/court, sportsmanship and commitment/participation from the team members.
Mountie of the Year
Given to an upper year individual who has actively and positively contributed to the university community in many ways, both up front and behind the scenes. This student is respected and acts as a positive role model for other students.
Residence Event of the Year
Given to a well attended, planned, and executed residence event that contributed to the house/campus spirit and created an enjoyable atmosphere. Creativity, theme, publicity, decorations, etc. are also considered.
Residence of the Year
Given to a residence that has contributed to campus life at Mount Allison through participating in both house and university events. Strength and level of house pride, unity, enthusiasm and presence on campus will be considered, as well as innovation, pride in house appearance, hosting of events (both in-house and open to public) etc.
Theatre Production of the Year
Given to a production for outstanding acting and production (i.e. set design, technical support, etc.) that was well attended and received by the student body. Originality, innovation and level of student involvement are considered.
Varsity Team of the Year
Given to the varsity team that has excelled in sportsmanship, team bonding, competitive success, dedication (practice and commitment), Mountie pride/spirit, involvement and positive contribution to Mount Allison and community.
*Varsity teams include: Badminton, Men’s Basketball, Women’s Basketball, Football, Women’s Hockey, Men’s Soccer, Women’s Soccer, Swimming, Curling, and Women’s Volleyball.
