Meeting Minutes
August 4th, 2020
1. Call to order: 6:08
2. Land Acknowledgement
3. Approval of the agenda
BE IT RESOLVED (moved by Councillor Tobin, seconded by Councillor Blakney) that the August 17th, 2020 Students’ Administrative Council Agenda be approved.
· Agenda clearly passes.
4. Approval of the minutes
BE IT RESOLVED (moved by Councillor Burke, seconded by Councillor Blakney) that the minutes from August 4th, 2020 meeting of the Students’ Administrative Council be approved.
· Minutes clearly pass
5. Executive Reports
President:
· Return to campus- lots of work is being done alongside the Orientation chair, Shinerama chair and executive to prepare for students return to campus
· Media and communications
· Student speaking on national news
· Board of regents
· Developing a partnership with CHMA
· We will get access to airtime and professional recording equipment to help us promote events and initiatives
Vice-president external:
· Welcome centre is now open for students not required to isolate
o Will be moved to the Pond Sept. 7th
· CASA/NBSA updates
o GOTV campaign now upcoming with the Provincial election announced today
o Will be attending an NBSA conference August 18th-20th
o Attended a second CASA conference for Policy and Strategy
§ A copy of CASA’s priorities for the year as been included for council to view and provide feedback on
· Foodsmart also took place again this month and went very well!
VPAA:
· Nimbus is still the priority and it is officially ready to launch in September!
· Met with Elizabeth Stregger from the library to talk about surveying students about OER’s.
· Hosting a book club with Councillor Penney to discuss with students in isolation!
· Finished documents for Acmen training
· The first week of classes will no longer be all online, in person will take place as scheduled for the semester
VPFO:
· Governance: working on OP.03 but taking a step back to do more research in-line with discussions had with other universities
· Continuing work with Campus Trust as co-chair
· RBC sponsorship: Meeting with the team from RBC next week to discuss the virtual literacy session taking place in September
VPC:
· Currently in the final steps of switching the domain to begin our new website
o Important resources can be found in the Linktree account in out bi on Instagram in the meantime
· Continuing communication for students return to campus: promoting the welcome centre, isolation periods, new health guidelines, residence info, etc.
· Headshots have been taken of the executive team and staff will also receive headshots in the Fall if interested.
6. Presentation: CASA
CASA: Policy Themes for Consideration
OP-03: Elections and Referenda- Second reading
Discussion:
Should the executive (other than the president and VPFO) be able to endorse candidates?
· VP’s do work with staff and senators and therefore have a good perspective on how someone may do in the roll, but also could be biased and issues with transparency
Motion to approve OP-03 as presented by Councillor Richardson

· Motion to approve the constitution for “The Jewish Students’ Union”
(motioned by Councillor Ferguson, seconded by Councillor Burke)
